Transit Fare Subsidy

Employees commuting to work by mass transit, are eligible for discount on public transit passes up to a maximum of $325.00 per month. The subsidy is offered to employees of the State of California for the purpose of commuting to and from work.

Public Transit Available Through Connect Card

Employees interested in utilizing public transportation in the Greater Sacramento Region can sign up for a Connect Card. CalEPA’s Connect Card provide convenience for employees to purchase and manage transit fares without going through the process of filing for reimbursement..

Participating transit agencies include Sacramento Regional Transit, El Dorado Transit, E-Tran, Folsom Stage Line, Placer County Transit, Roseville Transit, SCT/Link, YoloBus, and Yuba-Sutter Transit. For more information, please visit https://www.connecttransitcard.com/

To obtain a Connect Card, please visit the Transportation Services during our office hours of operation from 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm.

Employees can sign up for a Connect Card at Transportation Services’ counter. The CalEPA-044 – Transit Subsidy Self-Certification form must be completed and submit to Transportation Services.

Guidelines for Employee’s using State’s Transit Subsidy

  1. Are the sole recipient and user of the Connect Card.
  2. Use the subsidized transit pass for the purpose of commuting to and from work using public transit.
  3. Understand that transit subsidy may not exceed the amount specified in their bargaining unit contract.
  4. Understand that they will be obligated to return any improperly received discount.
  5. Understand that any purposeful misuse of this program is cause for disciplinary action.

Employees on a leave of absence from work are NOT eligible to receive discount transit passes.

Students employed through their college and State contractors are NOT eligible to receive State subsidy.
